training to ensure the original and continuing competence of personnel
caring for, setting up,
inspecting and maintaining horizontal injection molding machines and
operators and supervisory
personnel are trained and instructed in the safe method of operation of
safety devices and
procedures. Feasible means of abatement include:
(a) Follow the preventative maintenance program as published in the
Reed-Prentice Screw
Injection Molding Machine Maintenance Manual, including Primary Safety
Checks, Daily
Checks, Weekly Checks, Monthly Checks and Semi-Annual Checks.
(b) Maintain a complete set of records indicating machine or mold
malfunctions, set-up and
repairs as stated in the Maintenance Manual. Establish a complete program
of periodic and
regular inspections of horizontal injection molding machines in accordance
with ANSI/SPI
B151.1 1997 section 4.3.
(c) Provid training to ensure the original and continuing competency of
personnel caring for,
setting up, inspecting and maintaining horizontal injection molding
machines according to
ANSI/SPI B151.1 1997, section 4.2. Ensure operators and supervisors are
trained and instructed
in the safe method of operation of the safety devices and operations as
described in ANSI/SPI
B151.1 1997, section 7.1.
