Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to:
a)Construction Site, West 12th Street and Pittsburgh Avenue, Erie, PA -
Wooden roof trusses were not properly braced either laterally nor
diagonally nor had the proper sized bracing lumber been used.
Among other feasible and acceptable methods to correct this hazard are to:
1)Use proper sized lumber for all bracing.
2)Install all lateral and diagonal bracing as required.
3)Follow the ANSI/Truss Plate Institute Summary Sheet HIB-91 (Handling,
Installation, and Bracing Metal Plate Connected Wooden Trusses) during
the erection and installation of all wooded truss systems.
