rear loading refuse compactor for refuse collection did not ensure
that all employees (except operator) were clear of the compactor
area when unit is in operation.
Feasible methods of abatement:
1)Develop and implement safety training procedures for employees
on the manufacturer's safety and operations manuals before
operating equipment.
2)Employees shall be instructed on how to recognize and avoid
unsafe conditions when using or working near equipment.
3)Only trained and authorized personnel shall be permitted to operate
equipment.
