Section 5 (a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employement and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to being struck by, caught in between and or falling from a collapsing prefabricated wood roof truss system in that the trusses were not properly braced to prevent their collapse. a)Brandywine Valley Baptist Church, 7 Mount Lebanon Road, Wilmington, DE 19803 - The trusses collapsed while under going construction when the workers were loosening bracing to remove and reposition a roof truss on 08/29/00. Among others, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to develop a roof truss erection plan in accordance to the design and installation recommendations for the temporary bracing of roof trusses of the HIB-91 "Summary Sheet, Commentary and Recommendations for Handling, Installing & Bracing Metal Plate Connected Wood Trusses" issued by the Truss Plate Institute.
