Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by concrete under pressure or by a whipping concrete hose, were the clamp to be accidentally opened while the concrete was under pressure. One method of abatement among other methods would be to insert a safety pin at the hose clamp's handle to eliminate the chance of accidentally opening the clamp: Jobsite: Ground level, Back of the House. Employees were exposed to possible serious injury while installing concrete from a Schwing concrete pump truck where the quick closing clamps, connecting the lengths of hoses together, were not pinned or otherwise secured to prevent them from accidentally opening.ally
