Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, on or about June 23, 1997, in that employees were exposed to the hazards of: Number 1 Paper Machine: a.Concussions, puncture wounds, cuts, bruises, and broken bones from metal falling from rusted and severely deteriorated roof trusses located approximately 30' above the number one paper machine. A feasible method to abate this hazard is to install a temporary false ceiling made of heavy gauge polyvinyl or closed mesh heavy gauge wire screen below the metal trusses to catch falling metal.

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, on or about June 23, 1997, in that employees were exposed to the hazards of: Basement underneath No. 1 Paper Machine: a.Burns from hot steam, due to steam pipes leaking and not being repaired as soon as possible. A feasible method to abate this hazard is to repair the leaking steam lines as soon as soon as possible.
