Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the potential hazard of being struck by dislodged materials falling from a belt conveyor in the receiving area and from an overhead trolley conveyor with hooks for holding the load in the wash area. Feasible methods of abatement can be as specified in American National Standards Institute, B20.1-1993, Safety Standards for Conveyors and Related Equipment, Section 5 as follows: (a) paragraph 5.9.2 (d), install spill guards for the belt conveyor and (b) paragraph 5.9.2 (b), post prominent and legible warnings in the area of the overhead trolley conveyor and where feasible, paint lines on the floor delineating the danger area.
