Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by or crushed by a front end loader. a)Transfer Station: The left rear tire of the Caterpillar IT286 front end loader (#8CR733) was worn below the wear indicator bars which caused the tire to spin, lose traction, and slide when the brakes were applied. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to replace the worn tire on the Caterpillar loader and ensure that the tires on the loader are maintained in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications.
