Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to falls from an elevation: Ted Williams Tunnel: Employees were exposed to serious injury while working from a potentially unstable scissor lift which was positioned on the bed of a GMC truck. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct the above is to follow the provisions of ANSI/SIA standard A92.6 section 7.11.12 which requires the manufacturer's written approval.
