Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of a collapse of wood trussed rafters that were not erected in accordance with the design documents. Among other methods of feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct this hazard would be to follow engineering design drawings, calculations and reports developed by a professional engineer. Jobsite: Roof area. Employees were exposed to serious injuries while erecting wood trussed rafters not in accordance with contract drawings.
