Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety & Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that, employees were exposed to work conditions which caused serious injuries due to unsafe operation of a scissor lift: Jobsite: On January 9, 1998, an worker was seriouly injured when he was knocked off a mobile scaffold when it was struck by a scissor lift. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard includes, but is not limited to, the safe operation of the scissor lift in congested areas and the location of personnel in the travel area and other factors affecting hazard of collision or injury to personnel in accordance with ANSI A92.6 14.2.4.nce
