Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of operating a Case front end loader with faulty steering: (a) At the Beaver Falls Sewage Treatment Plant Expansion Construction Project, the steering on the Case Model W24B, Serial number 9109287 was deficient. Abatement verification is required for this item. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement to correct this hazard is to repair the steering so that it meets the manufacturer's original design criteria.
