Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: falling debris (glass cullet) from an overhead conveyor. a) Employees using the main aisleway between the mold and maintenance shops were exposed to falling debris from an overhead conveyor. Note: Feasible methods of eliminating the hazard would include but are not necessarily limited the following: 1) Replace existing belt which has worn to the point that material is spilling over the sides. 2) Install adequate catch basket to insure that material does not leave the confines of the conveyor.
