Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to:
Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico:
El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a:
a.  Receive serious injuries due to falls while employees work in steel
erection activities
installing pipe wearing structure over wood platform fourteen feet wide
and fourteen feet
lenght, twenty feet high and over two pipes eight inches of diameter, ten
feet long and
thirteen feet high; employees did not tied-off their body harnesses to a
life
line or a safe
area of the structure. Among other methods one feasible and acceptable
abatement
method to correct this hazard is using a complete personal fall arrest
system.
a.  Recibir lessiones serias debido a caidas mientras se trabaja en
actividad de ereccion
de acero instalando estructura de soporte de tuberias sobre plataforma de
madera catorce
pies de ancho y largo, veinte pies de alto y sobre dos tubos de ocho
pulgadas de
diametro, diez pies de largo y a trece pies de alto; empleados no estaban
atando sus
arneses a una linea de salvamento o a un area segura de la estructura.
Entre otros
metodos, un metodo para corregir aceptable y viable es el uso de un
sistema personal
completo de proteccion a caidas.
