Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fire/explosion hazards: a.Edge-Sweets HT 140 ES/CC Profile Saw Dust Collector -- Employees were not protected from the hazards of fire and explosion resulting from the ignition of the contents of the dust collection unit and subsequent flame and pressure front that would be transmitted within the collector and into the plant. b.Hammond Duskolector -- Employees were not protected from the hazards of fire and explosion resulting from the ignition of the contents of the dust collection unit and the subsequent flame and pressure front that would be transmitted in the return air duct and/or collector. c.Edge-Sweets HT-140/E Manual Profile Saw Dust Collector -- Employees were not protected from the hazards of fire and explosion resulting from the ignition of the contents of the dust collection unit and subsequent flame and pressure front that would be transmitted within the collector and into the plant. d.Wood Shop, Frank Clement Bandsaw Dust Collector -- Employees were not protected from the hazards of fire and explosion resulting from the ignition of the contents of the dust collection unit and subsequent flame and pressure front that would be transmitted within the collector and into the plant. e.Wood Shop, Central Dust Collector -- Employees were not protected from the hazards of fire and explosion resulting from the ignition of the contents of the dust collection unit and subsequent flame and pressure front that would be transmitted within the collector and into the shop. f.Corrugating Area -- The dust at the table saw used for notching cardboard was not adequately collected. ABATEMENT NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable means of abatement would be to comply with the requirements of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 650-Pneumatic Conveying Systems for Handling Combustible Particulate Solids and 664 - Prevention of Fire and Explosions in Wood Processing and Woodworking Facilities.
