Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: At the fleet maintenance shop, during the service work on multi-piece wheels, including tubeless tires, when the wheel is inflated there is a hazard of explosive separation of the wheel components. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to provide employee training in the hazards and safety procedures to be followed, providing remote control inflation equipment, a restraining device, and establishing safe operating procedures for servicing rim wheel, including the requirement that outside servicing firms understand and comply with the safe operating procedures for working on single or multi-piece rim wheels.iece
