Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to rotating fan blades: AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD WOULD BE TO PROVIDE A GUARD OVER THE EXPOSED FAN AREA OR ELEVATE THE HEATER FAN UNIT TO 7 FEET ABOVE THE WORKING SURFACE AREA. JOBSITE: HODGES VILLAGE DAM SEEPAGE CONTROL PROJECT, OXFORD, MA. 01540: PUMP HOUSE AREA BETWEEN TANK NUMBER 1 AND 2, THE CHROMALOX HEATER, THE FAN BLADE AREA WAS 5 FEET FROM THE SURFACE AND THE FAN BLADE AREA WAS NOT GUARDED.
