Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to being struck by metal plates being handled by use of electric chain hoist(s): (a) ATI GARAGE -- EMPLOYEES EXPOSED TO BEING STRUCK BY METAL PLATES WHICH ARE MOVED/HANDLED BY USE OF ELECTRIC CHAIN HOISTS FOR EMPLOYEES TO WELD DUMP TRUCK BODIES. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE METHOD TO CORRECT THIS POTENTIAL HAZARD, WOULD BE TO COMPLY WITH AMERICAN NATIONAL STANDARDS (ANSI) B30.16 - 1973 FOR OVERHEAD HOISTS, SECTION 16-2.2 INSPECTION, TESTING AND MAINTENANCE OF ELECTRIC OR AIR POWERED HOISTS.
