Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: The hazard of being caught by the nip point created by moving portions of the axle conveyor including the axle support saddle at the South end of the axle conveyor, and the entanglement hazard underneath the axle line conveyor. "AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS...." 1. Ensure that the requirements of the latest version of AMSE B20.1 are followed. These may include but are not limited to: Ensuring through engineering controls and periodic inspections that all guards are in place and functional and that emergency stop buttons, and emergency stop cords are functioning as designed. 2. Ensure that both hourly and supervisory employees working around conveyors are thoroughly trained in the hazards of conveyors, and in methods to prevent the occurrence of hazards associated with conveyors.
