General-duty citation text
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the condition(s) listed below: S.B. Foot Tanning Co., Hwy. 287 North, Cactus, TX. For the period of time up to and including 11/30/99, fork lift operators were observed driving fork lifts in the facility without wearing the safety belts provided. This exposed employees to the hazards of being struck / crushed by the lift truck overhead protection device should the fork lift be accidentally tipped over and result in the driver being thrown out of the operator seat. A feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard would be: Ensure that drivers wear supplied safety belts anytime they operate an industrial fork lift truck.rial
