Lamesa Cotton Oil Mill, 800 SE 8th St., Lamesa, TX.  For the period of
time up to and
including 01/23/01, the employer did not maintain pressure and temperature
gauges in an
operable condition throughout the facility.  Gauges that would alert
employees working in
specific hazardous areas of the facility were damaged or unreadable.
These gauges give
maintenance personnel information while in the facility and away from the
main computer
controls.  This exposed employees to the hazards and injuries related to
the over charging of
lines or the sudden release of hexane, hot oil, or steam.
Instances:
a)  Pressure gauge on 1st stage outlet, indicator needle missing.
b)  Temperature gauge #20 had a cracked glass/plastic cover.
