Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees. employees were exposed to potentially hazardous energy sources that were not locked or tagged out by the employer. Lab Building. Employees worked on a 16 inch 80psi water pipe connection for the new lab building addition without locking out the upstream flow. Feasible abatement methods include, but are not limited to : 1)Develop a written lockout/tagout program that complies with the American National Standard for Personnel Protection - Lockout/Tagout of Energy Sources - Minimum Safety Requirements, ANSI Z244.1 2) Train all employees in the proper methods of lockout/tagout. 3)Provide identification of energy isolating devices to indicate their function, equipment supplied, and energy type and magnitude. CERTIFICATION REQUIRED FOR THIS ITEM
