Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that
were likely to cause
death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed
to being struck by
structural steel beams.
Three steel beams were lifted in "Christmas tree" style.  A method was not
used to keep
the upper beams rotating and tipping.
Among feasible means of abatement would be to use a spreader connected to
the bridal
and securing the multiple steel beams with their own separate slings or
raising only one
beam at a time.
