a)Repair area inside of the building.  An employee was welding
while standing on a plank that was placed on the top guard rail
of the scissor lift; on or about 4/8/98.
ABATEMENT NOTES:
Among other methods, one feasible method to reduce this hazard is to:
1)Train the operator to comply with the ANSI standard A92.6-1990 section
8.10.1 which states, personnel shall maintain a firm footing on the
platform
while working thereon unless they are secured by a safety harness/lanyard
fixed to manufacture approved hard points. Use of railings or planks,
ladders
or any other device on the work platform not conforming to 8.10.1 for
achieving additional height shall be prohibited.
