Hoist,
and Two Electric Chain Hoists) were not provided with labels showing the
direction of hoist travel.
ABATEMENT NOTES:
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this
hazard is
to:
Install Direction Labels.
Follow the labeling requirements set forth in ASME/ANSI B30.16-1987, and
ASME/ANSI B30.7-1994.
b)Kill Floor, on or about 9/15/98:  All of the hoists (One Drum Hoist, and
Two
Electric Chain Hoists) were not inspected.
ABATEMENT NOTES:
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this
hazard is
to:
Conduct initial, frequent, and periodic inspections of the hoists and
support
structures for wear, deterioration or malfunction as per ASME/ANSI
B30.16-1987,
chapter 16-2, and ASME/ANSI B30.7-1994, chapter 7-2.
c)Kill Floor, on or about 9/15/98:  All of hoists (One Drum Hoist, and Two
Electric Chain Hoists) were not provided with any load ratings.
ABATEMENT NOTES:
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this
hazard is
to:
Provide load ratings for the hoists, hooks, chains, and support structures
as per
ASME/ANSI B30.16-1987, chapter 16-1, and ASME/ANSI B30.7-1994, chapter 7-
1.1.
d)Kill Floor, on or about 9/15/98:  All of the hoists (One Drum Hoist, and
Two
Electric Chain Hoists) were not provided with limit switches.
ABATEMENT NOTES:
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this
hazard is
to:
Provided operational limit switches as per ASME/ANSI B30.16-1987, and
ASME/ANSI B30.7-1994, chapter 7-2.2.
e)Kill Floor, on or about 9/15/98:  The Monorail transport system used to
transport cattle was not provided with inspections, records of inspections,
and maximum tonnage.
ABATEMENT NOTES:
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this
hazard is
to:
Conduct initial, frequent, and periodic inspections of the hoists and
support
structures for wear, deterioration or malfunction as per ANSI B30.11-1973,
chapter
11-2.

followed while a .22 caliber rifle was used to slaughter bovine.
ABATEMENT NOTES:
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this
hazard is
to:
1) Always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.
2) Know the target and what is beyond it.
3) Ensure that the gun is safe to operate (no missing or broken trigger
guards).
4) Wear hearing and eye protection as appropriate.
5) Store guns so that they are not accessible to unauthorized persons.
6) Follow the National Rifle Associations fundamental rules of gun safety.
7) Follow the gun safety rules set forth by the New York State DEC hunter
education course.
Abatement certification is required for this item.
