Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of receiving various injuries from the lack of proper fall protection and the lack of use of fall protection: a)Warehouse, on or about 9/25/98: Employees were not provided with proper fall protection equipment in that no safety belt was utilized, and lanyards were damaged. Employees that were utilizing fall protection were not trained and/ or required to utilize the equipment properly. Employees exposed to fall hazards. ABATEMENT NOTES: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to require and enforce the use of the fall protection that is required by the manufacturer and as required by ASME B56.1-1993, chapter 4.17.2.
