Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to THE HAZARD OF BEING CAUGHT-BY INGOING NIP POINTS: a)Dept.#13, Micro Metallic Products, on or about 5/5/99: the company's set-up and operating procedures for the MP-43 roll mill did not include means to ensure protective devices are in safe operating condition and adjustment. Employees exposed to a caught-by hazard. ABATEMENT NOTES: 1.Follow the requirements of American National Standard, ANSI B11.12- 1996, Roll-forming and Roll-bending machines, Section 4.2. 2.Revise set-up and operation procedures for MP-43 roll mill to ensure that protective devices are in safe operating condition and adjustment.
