Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to:
Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico:
El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a:
a)At the Michael's store in road # 2 Km 81.9 from Hatillo. Employees
working at
regular hours expose to high temperature in close area of 15,000 square
feets,
don't have windows or others natural ventilation. Strong olors to
citronella and
eucalyptus persist in the area. The transformer of the building was damage
and
this building is designed to use air conditioner. Pregnacy and others
employees
expose to sofocation, heat stress, headache, breastache, fatigue,
irritation to skin,
eyes and respiratory system and allergic reaction. "One feasible and
acceptable
abatament method amoung others to correct this hazards is".
1- Put fan or ventilators in all areas and aisles of the store.
2- Reduce the regular time work of the employees to 45 min. work/15 min.
rest;
each hour.
3- Put another power generation plant of greater capacity.
a)En la tienda Michael's en la carr # 2 Km 81.9 de Hatillo. Empleados
trabajando
en horarios regulares, expuestos a temperaturas altas en area cerrada de
15,000
pies cuadrados, no tienen ventanas u otra ventilacion natural. Olores
fuertes a
citronela y eucalipto persiste en el area. El transformador del edificio
estaba
danado y el edificio esta disenado para usar aire acondicionado. Empleada
embarazada y otros empleados expuestos a sofocacion, agitacion por
esfuerzo,
dolor de cabeza, dolor en el pecho, fatiga, irritacion en la piel, ojos y
sistema
respiratorio y reacciones alergicas. "Un metodo de correccion factible y
aceptable
entre otros  para corregir este riesgo es".
1- Colocar abanicos o ventiladores en todas las areas y pasillos de la
tienda.
2- Reducir el tiempo regular de trabajo del empleado a 45 min. trabajo/15
min.
descanso; cada hora.
3- Colocar otra planta generadora de mayor capacidad.
