Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to:
Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico:
El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a:
Exposed to:
a)Chemical burns during unload of acids.
One feasible and acceptable abatement method, among others, to correct this
hazard is provide the following elements:
1)Work on pairs during all the unloading procedure.
2)Provide telephones in the area for use during emergencies to provide
immediate help to the affected employees and be able to comply with the
method to inform chemical burns emergencies.
3)Make sure that employees know before any unloading operation the
location of the emergency eyewash and shower equipment and that it is in
working condition, and that they know how to use it.
4)Review procedures regularly and supervisors have to make sure this
procedures are follow by the employees.
Expuesto a:
a)Quemaduras quimicas durante la descarga de acidos.
Un metodo de correccion apropiado y aceptable, entre otros es proveer los
siguientes elementos:
1)Trabajar en parejas durante todos los procedimientos de descarga.
2)Proveer telefonos en el area para ser utilizados durante emergencias para
proveer ayuda inmediata a los empleados afectados y poder cumplir con
el metodo de informar las emergencias por quemaduras quimicas.
3)Asegurarse que los empleados saben antes de realizar cualquier operacion
de descarga la localizacion del equipo de lavaojos y ducha de emergencias
y que este se encuentra en condiciones de uso y que los empleados saben
como utilizarlo.
4)Revisar los procedimientos regularmente y los supervisores asegurarse que
estos sean seguidos por los empleados.
