Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to:
Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico:
El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a:
a)An employee was found working over machinery ( Hydraulic Press without
manufacture
description plate found to be reconstructed by Deutsche, 150
ton.-hydraulic Circuit, dwg.
no. 86-1029-D-VP, as a mechanic the press no. 19) 8 feet above adjacent
floor to change
a defective hose from the hydraulic system without personal fall arrest
system.
The
employee had to stand over the equipment due to the place of the breakage
and since he
reach the height by a mobile scaffold jumping out of it, walk over the
components of the
press reaching the place of the breakage and started working in the
repair. Employee
exposed to fractures and other similar injuries due to falls. Among other
methods one
feasible is to implant the use of a personal fall arrest system.
a)Un empleado fue encontrado trabajando sobre maquinaria (Prensa
Hidraulica sin la placa
descriptiva del manufacturero reconstruida por Deutsche, 150 ton.-Circuito
Hidraulico,
dibujo no. 86-1029-D-VP, segun el mecanico la prensa no. 19) 8 pies sobre
piso
adyacente para reemplazar una manga del sistema hidraulico sin equipo de
proteccion
personal contra caidas. El empleado tuvo que subirse sobre el equipo
debido al lugar de
la rotura y ya que alcanzo la altura con un equipo de andamio movible
bajandose de este,
caminando sobre los componentes de la prensa hasta alcanzar el lugar de la
rotura y
comenzar a trabajar en la reparacion. Empleados expuestos a fracturas y
otras lesiones
similares por caidas. Ademas de otros metodos, uno factible lo es el
implantar el uso de
sistema de proteccion de arresto personal.n
