Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico: El patrono no proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten causando o que puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados estaban expuestos a: At the Almirante Sur Filters Plant: Where the plant operators do their tasks, were observed six instances in which the illumination was deficient in places where the employees transit or where they have to do readings or collect samples. a) At the decaptation modules, where the illumination was 00.9 foot candles. b) At the turbidity under filter area, where the illumination was 00.2 foot candles. c) At the meter of filtrated water area, where the illumination was 00.1 foot candles. d) At the recirculation pumps controls area, where the illumination was 00.1 foot candles. e) At the distribution boosters area, where the illumination was 00.1 foot candles. f) At the plant main entrance, where the illumination was 00.1 foot candles. Hazard: That due to the lack of illumination the employees can not become aware of some present hazard. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is changing the damaged bulbs of the electric light bulbs. En la Planta de Filtros Almirante Sur: Donde los operadores de la planta realizan sus tareas, se observaron seis casos en los cuales la iluminacion era deficiente en lugares por donde los empleados tienen que transitar o donde tienen que tomar medidas o muestras. a) En los modulos de decaptacion, donde la iluminacion era de 00.9 pies candelas. b) En el area de turbidez bajo filtro, donde la iluminacion era de 00.2 pies candelas. c) En el area del metro de agua filtrada, donde la iluminacion era de 00.1 pies candelas. d) En el area de los controles de las bombas de recirculacion, donde la iluminacion era de 00.1 pies candelas. e) En el area de los "boosters" de distribucion, donde la iluminacion era de 00.1 pies candelas. f) En el area de la entrada principal de la planta, donde la iluminacion era de 00.1 pies candelas. Riesgo: Que por falta de iluminacion los empleados no se puedan percatar de algun riesgo presente. Entre otros metodos, un metodo apropiado y aceptable para corregir este riesgo es el cambiarle las bombillas danadas a los focos electricos.
