Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized
hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to:
a) 115 Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park, Illinois - On or About
July 29, 1997, an employee was exposed to the hazard of falling
approximately 4 1/2 feet while leaning against the top rail when he
was standing  on the platform of a Wildcat 1200 self-propelled
elevated work platform (scissor lift).
Among other methods, one feasible and useful method to correct
this hazard is to develop, implement, and enforce a work rule such
as stipulated in American National Standard Institute A92.6 for
Self Propelled Elevating Work Platforms, 1990.  Personnel shall
inspect and ensure that all componenets of the guardrail system for
the lift  are in place before the machine is put into service.
No abatement certification or documentation is required for this item.
