Public Law 91-596, Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by ruptured piping, in that, Schedule 40 PVC pipe was installed in the shop area to distribute compressed air from the compressor. On or about 10/28/97. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to replace the installed PVC piping with an impact resistant acrylonitrile styrene (ABS) pipe, metal piping or its equivalent.

Public Law 91-596, Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not provide employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that serious deficiencies existed on the following cranes: (a) Lorain Truck Crane, Serial No. 18250, (1) The swing radius was not barricaded; (2) No boom angle indicator was provided; (3) No boom stops were provided. (b) Manitowoc 2300 Crawler, Serial No. 23044 (1) The swing radius was not barricaded; (2) No boom angle indicator was provided; (3) The cab glass was cracked. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable methods to correct these hazards are to barricade the swing radius of cranes, install boom angle indicators, and replace the cab glass or replace the cranes with other equipment. On or about 10/31/97.
