Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to caught-in/between hazards due to conveyor movement: a) Outside Conveyor - No prestart alarm was provided on the materials conveyor which transported sand and aggregate to the interior of the batch plant building. As this conveyor entered through the wall of the building the discharge end of the conveyor was not visible to the operator located outside at ground level, ABATEMENT NOTE: One feasible and acceptable method to abate this hazard would be to install a prestart alarm to warn employees inside the building of the imminent start of the conveyor system.
