Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: AMMCO Lifts ALS-1W, Oil Change Bays 1 & 2, periodic inspections of auto lifts could not be established in that both auto lifts had maintenance defects. Oil change bay 1 was missing a guard rail exposing employees to fall hazards. Oil change bay 2 had the safety locks wire to prevent the locks from extending when lift was raised exposing employees to falling load hazards. Lifts had been not tagged out of service. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct these hazard would be to make periodic inspections and repairs of the auto lifts as specified by the manufacture of the auto lift and by the American National Standard Institute (ANSI) B153.1- 1974 Section 6.1 Maintenance.
