Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Emergency eye/face was and shower is not activated weekly to flush the lines and to verify operation in accordance with ANSI Z358.1, 1990, Section 4.7.1. Employees exposed to injurious corrosive materials such as Immersion Cleaner/Carburator and Cold Parts containing Cresylic Acid in the Part Cleaning Room. MOA: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is: Establish procedures for flushing and verifying equipment operations and train personnel on eye/face wash and shower flushing and operational testing on a weekly basis. 29 CFR 1903.19(c)(1) requires certification that the abatement of the above violation is complete.

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: A self contained eye wash unit located outside of the Chloric Aid room did not meet requirements of ANSI Z358.1, 1990, Section 5.1.5 in that it was not capable of providing a fifteen minute flow of water. Employees exposed to injurious corrosive materials such as Hydrochloric Acid, Sulfuric Acid, and Caustic Soda. MOA: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is: Install a plumbed eye/face wash and shower in the immediate area of exposure. 29 CFR 1903.19(c)(1) requires certification that the abatement of the above violation is complete.
