Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to potential overexposures to ammonia in emergency situations: a.On or about February 3, 1999, the employer had not provided the employees with a Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBAs) and a backup SCBA immediately outside or in the vicinity of the exit for Machine Room #2 of the ammonia refrigeration system, exposing employees to respiratory distress. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION IS REQUIRED.TION
