Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to fall hazards from an elevated personnel platform:
a)CFP Enterprises & 429 Edwards Access Rd., Edwards, CO:  On or before
1-8-97
the employer did not ensure that a wooden, job-made personnel platform
used in
conjunction with a rough-terrain forklift was properly designed,
constructed, utilized and
maintained.  Two employees fell approximately 14' when the platform
structure they
were standing on failed and dislodged from the forks.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this
hazard is to design, construct, utilize and maintain the personnel
platform in accordance
with ASME/ANSI B56.6-1987, Safety Standard for Rough Terrain Forklift
Trucks.
