Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico: El patrono no proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten causando o que puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados estaban expuestos a: At the office - The illumination system within the non-modular layout office varied from 18.6 to 35.8 footcandles where the minimum recommended illumination level for efficient visual performance for the type of the job concerned is as follows: -Where the type of activity performance of visual tasks of medium contrast of small size with illuminance category is classified E, the footcandles required are between 50-75-100. -Where the type of activity performance of visual tasks of low contrast or very small size with illumination category F , the footcandles required are between 100-150-200. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to increase the wattage of lamps; or increseas the number of lams in the luminaries and/or, to provide a separate perimeter lighting system. Hazard: Visual fatigue and gradual vision level impairment. En la oficina - El sistema de iluminacion dentro de la oficina con arreglo no-modular vario de 18.6 a 35.8 pies-bujias donde el nivel de iluminacion minimo requerido para la ejecucion visual del trabajo concernido es el siguiente: -Donde el tipo de actividad desarrollada de tareas visuales de contraste mediano a tamano pequeno con una categoria de iluminacion clasificada E, los pies-bujias requeridos estan entre 50-75-100. -Donde el tipo de actividad desarrollada de tareas visuales de bajo contraste de tamano muy pequeno con una categoria de iluminacion tipo F, los pies-bujias requeridos estan entre 100-150- 200. Entre otros metodos, un metodo accesible y aceptable para corregir este riesgo es aumentar la potencia en vatios de las lamparas, aumentar el numero de lamparas en las luminarias y/o proveer un sistema separado de alumbrado de perimetro. Riesgo: Fatiga visual y deterioro gradual del nivel de vision.
