Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employee(s)
were exposed to falling from a scissor lift, the work platform of which
was elevated
approximately 35 feet above floor level, while standing on the guardrails
to perform overhead
work.
a)  Albert's Organics, Pureland Industrial Park, Bridgeport N.J. -
Employee climbed
upon the guardrails of a scissor lift in order to perform overhead work
and was exposed
to falling from a height of approximately 35 feet.  On or about 12/30/96.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this
hazard is to ensure,
through direction and supervision, that personnel maintain a firm footing
on the platform while
working thereon as prescribed by American National Standards Institute
(ANSI)
