D951247, 9,000 lb
capacity) were not engaging as the lift was raised from floor level.  On
or about 07/21/98.
b)  Main Service Bay (Lift # 6):  The automatic vehicle lifting arm safety
devices on the Benwil
Electric Automobile Dual Post Above Ground Lift (model TP 7, Serial #
8186, 7,000 lb
capacity) were not engaging as the lift was raised from floor level.  On
or about 07/21/98.
ABATEMENT VERIFICATION:  In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c)(1): Abatement
Verification is required within 10 calendar days from the final abatement
date on this
citation.  The employer must submit documentation such as photographs,
invoices, etc., as
to the abatement of each citation to the Area Director at the address
indicated.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct these hazards
is to ensure that periodic inspections and servicing of the Electric
Automobile Lifts are routinely
performed and documented.
