29 CFR 5a(1): 24 V.I. R&R 36(b)1.5a(1): Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: On or about 1-07-08: Location: Store room #1, #2 and the workshop. a) The Compliance Officer observed severe structural damage to the walls of the building housing the maintenance staff for Lucinda Millin Home. In the storerooms and the workshop, the structural integrity of the walls were compromised by large cracks and exposed and corroded structural steel (rebar). In the event of an earthquake, other natural disaster or emergency, the compromised walls and/or roof could collapse causing serious injury or death to the exposed employees working in said building. NOTE: THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION FOR THIS ITEM IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19NCE
