Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to amputation and crushing hazards: a)USPS Cookeville - On or about 02/28/08, employees were exposed to amputation hazards when they were not trained to follow safety precautions while operating equipment. One feasible and effective means of abatement may include, but not limited to, is to ensure employees have received training to follow company procedures which states: Never put your hand in any part of the equipment while the machine is running.
