Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to asphyxiation hazards: a)Physical Plant - On or about 07/29/09, the employer did not fully comply with ASHRAE 15 requirements in that each entrance to the plant was not clearly marked to prevent unauthorized employees from entering the area, visual alarms were lacking inside the plant and visual/audible alarms were lacking outside each entrance to the plant. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to comply with ANSI/ASHRAE 15-2004 Safety Standard for Refrigeration Systems, specifically provided visual and audible alarms inside the room and outside each entrance and post authorized entry signs.ized
