Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Fractures and/or crushing of body parts from hazards involved with overloading the five (5) underhung cranes located through out the shop. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement to correct this hazard in accordance with provisions stipulated in Ansi B30.11-1993, Monorails and Underhung Cranes, Paragraph 11.1.1.1 and 11-2.2.2(a). Essential elements include the following: 1. The equipment shall be tested by or under the direction of an appointed person and a written report furnished confirming the load rating of the system. The load rating shall be placed on file. 2. The rated load shall be plainly marked on each side of the crane. The markings shall be clearly legible form the loading position.
