Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to:
The hazard of being struck by, caught in or between machinery components
and/or casting
product while working in the run-out area of the Bloom Casters due to
unfamiliarity with the
work process and prescribed work practices established by the employer.
Among other methods, one feasible and useful method to eliminate this
hazard is to
ensure all personnel operating Bloom Casters or performing work in or
around casting
run-out areas are given training and information on the safe work
practices and
procedures such as those outlined by the employers, "SJP BCR-02 Charging
Dummy
Bars" and "SJP BCR-19, Lockout of Run-out Areas", and strict enforcement
of all
provisions contained therein.
