Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees.
In that employees were exposed to cuts and possible amputation of their
fingers
and/or hands while using an unguarded handheld Metabo grinder equipped
with a
6" abrasive disc used to cut out sections of metal wire baskets, old welds
and
for deburring metal.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abating this
hazard
in accordance with the provisions stipulated in ANSI B-7.1 would be to
equip
each grinder with a guard to protect the employees from contact with the
abrasive
disc.
