Section 27-a(3)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish to each of its employees, employment, and a place of employment which is free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to its employees and which will provide reasonable and adequate protection to the lives, safety, or health of its employees: a.Suffolk County Health Department Brentwood Health Services Center Facility, did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees exposed to the hazard of being infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis through unprotected contact with clients who were infectious or suspected to be infectious with tuberculosis (TB) in that" isolation rooms were not kept under negative pressure.Reasonable and adequate methods for reducing this hazard, as recommended by the CDC, include, but are not limited to: (1) Isolation and treatment rooms in use by individuals with suspected or confirmed infectious TB disease shall be kept under negative pressure to induce airflow into the rooms from all surrounding areas.
