Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to:

El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a:
At the Agricultural Extension Office, located on the second level of the
Ceiba
Government Center: The employer did not develop a trimester total quality
maintenance
program to set up a good standard operation conditions, filters,
condensers and
serpentines cleanliness, which caused an increase the relative humidity of
the two (2) air
conditioned systems, with deterioration of the ventilation ducts and the
isolation material
which is been expelled through the diffusers; exposing the employees to
the hazard of
diseases of the upper respiratory tract and hypersensitivity reactions due
to the antigenic
nature of the isolation material.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this
hazard is to start doing strategies and get underway engineering controls
to replace the
ventilating ducts with new isolation material, and to develop and set up
and set up a
trimester maintenance program.
En la Oficina del Servicio de Extension Agricola, localizada en el segundo
nivel del
Centro de Gobierno de Ceiba: El patrono no desarrollo un programa de
mantenimiento
de calidad total, trimestral, para establecer un estandard de condiciones
de operacion
conveniente, limpieza de filtros, condensadores y serpentinas, lo cual
causo un
incremento en la humedad relativa en los dos (2) sistemas acondicionadores
de aire, con
deterioro de los conductos de ventilacion y del material aislante, el cual
es expelido
atraves de los difusores; exponiendo a los empleados al riesgo de
enfermedades
del tracto
respiratorio superior y de reacciones de hipersensitividad debido a la
naturaleza
antigenica del material aislante.
Entre otros metodos, un metodo accesible y aceptable para corregir este
riesgo es poner
en practica estrategias e iniciar controles de ingenieria para remplazar
los conductos de
ventilacion con nuevo material aislante, y desarrollar y poner en practica
un programa
de mantenimiento trimestral.
