Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not furnish
employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized
hazards that were causing or
likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in that employees were
exposed to:
Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico:
El patrono no proveyo
empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que puedan causar
muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados estaban
expuestos a:
Employees exposed to slips, trips and falls.  At  Autoridad de Acueductos
y Alcantarillados, at the
Hoyo Mulas Pumps Station, at the wet pit: Where the employees works
cleaning the wet pit, was
observed that the stairway that the employees used to acces the wet pit
have pealed the upper part of
the risers.  This makes the risers surface irregular, which causes that
the employees can slip, trip or
fall from the stairway.  The stairway have a width of 25 inches and
consist of three parts, the first
part have 8 risers, the second part have 5 risers and the third part have
7 risers.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this
hazard is repairing the
stairway.
Empleados expuestos a resbalones, tropezones y caidas.  En la Autoridad de
Acueductos y
Alcantarillados, en la Estacion de Bombas Hoyo Mulas, en el  wet pit:
Donde los empleados
trabajan limpiando el  wet pit, se observo que la escalera que los
empleados utilizan para accesar el
wet pit tenia repicado la parte superios de los escalones.  Esto hace que
la superficie de los
escalones sera irregular, lo cual que los empleados puedan resbalarse,
tropezarse
o caerse de la
escalera.  La escalera tenia un ancho de 25 pulgadas y consiste de tres
partes, la primera parte tenia 8
escalones, la segunda parte tenia 5 escalones y la tercera parte tenia 7
escalones.
Entre otros metodos, un metodo apropiado y aceptable para corregir este
riesgo es reparando la
escalera.

Employees exposed to hazardous gases.  At  Autoridad de Acueductos y
Alcantarillados, at the
Hoyo Mulas Pumps Station, at the wet pit: Where the employees works
cleaning the wet pit, was
observed that the air extractors were not functioning, because they are
out of service due to be
damaged.  This permit the accumulation of hazardous gases, like hydrogen
sulfide and methane,
which can be dangerous for the employees health.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this
hazard is repairing the
air extractors.
Empleados expuestos a gases peligrosos.  En la Autoridad de Acueductos y
Alcantarillados, en la
Estacion de Bombas Hoyo Mulas, en el  wet pit: Donde los empleados
trabajan limpiando el
wet pit, se observo que los extractores de aire no estaban funcionando
porque estan fuera de
servicio debido a que estan danados.  Esto permite la acumulacion de gases
peligrosos
como el
sulfuro de hidrogeno y el metano, los cuales pueden ser peligrosos para la
salud de los
empleados.
Entre otros metodos, un metodo apropiado y aceptable para corregir este
riesgo es reparando los
extractores.
